NE/03: 15 days Grand Birding Tour of North East IndiaFeaturing fabulous birding at Kaziranga, Dibru-Saikhowa and Namdhapa Includes 05 days birding trek with camping Adventure
Day 01: Arrive Dibrugarh Day 02: Dibrugarh-Deban (Namdhapa)
Dibrugarh – Deban ( Namdhapa
National Park)
Early morning drive to Deban –
166 Kms in 05 hrs, via Digboi and Miao, entering the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
On the way we will be making stops for birding between Miao and Deban. Upon
arrival at Deban we will spend the remaining day birding on foot around the
Forest Lodge. Overnight at Forest Lodge, in rooms or tents.
Day 03 - 08: Birding trek across the Nao Dihing-Namdapa
Rivers & return Day 09: Transfer Namdhapa NP to Dibru Saikhowa Biosphere reserve
Drive 131 Kms to Gujan to
the entry point to Dibru-Saikhowa. The driving time is 03-04
hrs. Check in at the Forest Rest House. We will spend the afternoon birding around Gujan. Overnight at Forest Rest House.
Day 10 : Dibru Saikhowa
Full days birding by boat and on
foot. We will be birding in grasslands, swamps and forest habitat. Overnight,
stay at Forest Rest House.
Day 11: Transafer Dibru saikhowa to Kaziranga National Park
Drive 281 Kms in 4.30 hrs to
Kaziranga National Park. Check in at resort. Spend the
afternoon birding through tea gardens. Overnight stay at resort. Day 12-13-14: Kaziranga
We will spend our three full days
in Kaziranga exploring the park as best as we can by jeep and
on elephant back. There are several watch points scattered throughout
Kaziranga, and we are allowed out on foot at these. We will make daily
forays, twice a day into various ranges of the park and the nearby Panbari
Reserve Forest by jeep. One morning we will take an elephant safari. Day 15: Kaziranga National Park - Guwahati In the morning, after birding in the surrounding areas, we will drive 220 Kms in 4.30 hrs to Guwahati. Upon arrival visit the Greater & Lesser Adjutant stork site. Overnight at our hotel
Day 16: Departure from Guwahati Transfer to airport to board your departure flight. TOUR ENDS.

Day 16: Guwahati-Bagdogra-Kalimpong
( 1400m)
In the morning another visit to
Adjutant Stork site. Transfer to Guwahati airport to Fly to Bagdogra. in
North Bengal . Upon landing at Bagdogra Airfield, drive 2.30 hrs to
Kalimpong., 1440 m. Overnight at Gurudongma House or
hotel.
Day 17: Lava forest trail,
(2000 m) Today we will depart early and drive along the highway to Lava (25 Kms) and bird along an isolated forest trail for 05-06 hrs. Return back to Kalimpong for overnight stay.
Day 18:
Lava- Khampung and Rushet Reserve Forests. (2400
m)
Once again drive along
highway to Lava. We will be birding along the road in Kampung Reserve forest,
followed by a short drive to the remote Rushet Reserve Forest. Return
back to Kalimpong for overnight stay.
Day 19: Kalimpong- Hilley (2700 m)-
Vershay ( Also called Barsey) (3050 m) Depart early to drive 19 Kms to Sikkim border check post at Malli, to bird in the mixed broad –leaved forests of the Rangit River Valley ( 300-900 m). Continue the drive to Hilley,(2700 m) through the Ramnam River Valley. Stop for birding in the pristine forests at an elevation of 2300 to 2700 m. Leaving our jeeps behind, start our birding trek for 04 kms to the Forest Hut at Vershay Rhododendron Sanctuary at 3060 m. Enjoy the lovely walk through forests of Silver Fir, hemlocks, magnolia, and Rhododendrons. As you climb higher it is the Rhododendrons, which reign supreme. The trek will take about 02 hours, and we should arrive at our camp by 1600 hrs. Settle down in our fully serviced camp with logistic base at the Forest hut. Day 20: Vershay
Based
at our camp at Vershay, we will use the network of forest trails to bird as best
as we can. Overnight in camp Day 21: Vershay-Soreng ( 1500 m)-Pamayangtse (2100m)
Birding trek to Soreng
through bio-diverse forest. Starting early morning we expect to reach the
road head at the small town of Soreng by 1400 hrs. Thereafter drive for 50
Kms to Pelling ( 2100 m) in 2.30 hrs. Overnight at Hotel at Pelling
Day 22:Pamayangtse and
Khichipheri
Today we will visit hot spots
around Pamayangtse Monastery, and on Sangacholing Ridge, and take a drive
to bird around the Khicherheri Lake (24 Kms). Overnight at Hotel at
Pelling.
23 Feb: Pamayangtse – Bagdogra After early breakfast, drive to Bagdogra (5.30 hrs) to board departure flight TOUR ENDS
